The MHD Steering Committee will evaluate applications and award traineeships based upon:
-
The quality of all of the above components
-
Past productivity relative to applicant’s stage in graduate school
-
The applicant’s future potential for a biomedical research career in microbial pathogenesis and host responses
-
The advisor’s program participation and commitment for supporting the research training of the applicant
Unsuccessful applicants will be encouraged to participate in all aspects of the training program and follow program guidelines as unfunded trainees. They may be eligible to reapply in subsequent years as long as they are making normal progress toward a PhD degree, depending upon their qualifications and how competitive a particular pool of applicants is in a given year.
